Dear Pilots,

Welcome to 5Y, our go-to source for updates on the progress of contract negotiations, the latest news on legal developments and basic information about the company and our pilots. The website name was chosen to include 5Y because it is the Atlas call sign and an important part of our identity as a team.

First and foremost, I want to be clear – we are eager to enter into our new contract and continue working toward that goal. We know there is a lot of information, and in many instances misinformation, being shared with you regarding the negotiations.  That is why we are committed to providing you with the facts and updates on this site.

Our pilots are key to the company’s continued success.  We thank all of our dedicated crew of 2,000 pilots and want to recognize you for your significant contributions by reaching a new agreement that increases pay and compensates you at the levels you deserve. We are working toward that goal every day and ask Union leaders to do the same.

It is no secret that the Company has sought to follow the merger provisions in the Atlas Air and Southern Air collective bargaining agreements to get to the next pilot joint collective bargaining agreement (JCBA).  These provisions provide timely, fair and orderly process of getting to your next agreement as soon as possible.  It is also no secret that the Union has done everything in its power to avoid following these merger provisions.  This unfortunately has led to legal actions and unnecessary delay.   The reality is that had the Union leadership honored its contractual obligations, you would most certainly have a new JCBA with improved pay and benefits by now.

Nonetheless, we expect these legal disputes to be resolved shortly and we look forward to sharing the decisions with you as soon as they come in.  The Company is committed to adhering to those decisions whatever the outcome.  We encourage the union to do the same.  In the meantime, we remain committed to continuing to bargain in good faith toward our ultimate goal of reaching a mutually agreeable JCBA.  It is in all of our best interests to do so, and we hope you will find this website useful in staying informed.
